Decision of the Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport No. (36) of 2021
Regarding Maritime Speeds and Determining Areas of Use in Waterways
in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi
Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport
Having reviewed Law No. (1) of 1974 reorganizing the governmental apparatus in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its amending laws,
- And upon Cabinet Decision No. (5) of 2009 regarding the application of the straight baselines system to a part of the coast of the United Arab Emirates,
- And upon Law No. (16) of 2005 regarding the reorganization of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi and its amendments,
- And upon Law No. (30) of 2019 regarding the establishment of the Department of Municipalities and Transport,
- And upon Emiri Decree No. (1) of 2019 concerning the reconstitution of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its amendments,
- And upon the Decision of the Chairman of the Executive Council No. (21) of 2018 regarding additional competencies for the Department of Transport,
- And based on the requirements of the public interest,
Has decided the following:
Article 1
The maritime maps for the waters of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi attached to this decision are adopted, as follows:
1. Abu Dhabi Maritime Safety Map - General Requirements.
2. Abu Dhabi Maritime Safety Map - Special Requirements for Personal Watercraft.
Article 2
The Transport Sector shall publish the maps and make amendments and updates to them after coordination with the competent authorities when necessary, according to the following data:
1. Speed limits.
2. Navigation lines and transit areas.
3. Prohibited areas, maritime activities, and anchoring.
4. Map keys and general instructions.
Article 3
This decision shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall come into force from the date of its publication.
