Decision of the Chairman of the Department No. (01) of 2013
Regarding the Costs and Fees for Towing and Impounding Violating Vehicles
The Chairman of the Department
- Having reviewed Law No. (1) of 1974 regarding the reorganization of the government apparatus in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its amendments,
- And Law No. (4) of 2006 concerning the establishment of the Department of Transport, as amended by Law No. (5) of 2008,
- And Law No. (18) of 2009 regarding the regulation of vehicle parking in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the regulations and systems issued thereunder.
- And Emiri Decree No. (15) of 2010 concerning the reconstitution of the Executive Council.
And based on the requirements of the public interest, it has been decided as follows:
Article (1)
1. Fees for towing and impounding vehicles violating the provisions of Law No. (18) of 2009 regarding the regulation of vehicle parking in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its executive regulations shall be calculated as detailed below:
- AED 100 per day from the date of impoundment for the first month.
- AED 500 per month for any subsequent month until the vehicle is released or sold at public auction.
- AED 500 collected one time as a fee for the carrier that towed and transported the vehicle.
2- Towing costs and impoundment fees are not subject to settlement or reduction.
Article (2)
All costs shall be collected from the owners of the violating and impounded vehicles upon their collection from the impoundment site, or from the proceeds of their sale at public auction.
Article (3)
The vehicle shall not be released from impoundment until all obligations resulting from the violation that led to the impoundment, including fines, towing, and impounding fees, are paid.
Article (4)
This decision shall be circulated and shall take effect from the date of its issuance, and all concerned authorities must adhere to its provisions, each within its own jurisdiction.
