Law No. (12) of 2016
Amending Certain Provisions of Law No. (11) of 2007 Concerning the Municipality and Municipal Council of
Al Ain City in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi
We, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi,
- Having reviewed Law No. (1) of 1974 concerning the reorganization of the governmental apparatus in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its amending laws,
- And Law No. (3) of 1971 concerning the National Consultative Council and its amending laws,
- And Law No. (11) of 2007 concerning the Municipality and Municipal Council of Al Ain City in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,
- And Law No. (23) of 2007 establishing the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council,
- And based on what was presented to the Executive Council, and its approval thereof,
We have issued the following law:
Article One
The following two definitions shall be added to Article (1) of the aforementioned Law No. (11) of 2007:
| The General Plan |
: The documents and maps of land sites with all their uses, development standards, and road rights-of-way, based on approved planning guides and standards, and which contains all levels of detailed planning. |
| The Executive Design |
: The documents and maps that specify the engineering works through which the general plan approved by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council is implemented. |
Article Two
Clauses (4) and (7) of Article (5) of the aforementioned Law No. (11) of 2007 shall be amended as follows:
"4. Designing, constructing, maintaining, and operating infrastructure, including roads, parks, and green spaces, within the municipality's powers and in coordination with the relevant authorities in this regard."
"7. Designing, constructing, maintaining, and operating public service facilities in the region."
A new clause, numbered (8), shall be added to Article (5) of the aforementioned Law No. (11) of 2007, with the following text:
"Preparing the executive design in accordance with the general plan approved by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council."
Article Three
Any text or provision that contradicts or conflicts with the provisions of this law shall be repealed.
Article Four
This law shall come into force from the date of its issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
