Administrative Decision No. (237) of 2018
Concerning the Management of Quarries for Loading Earthen Materials
in the Municipalities of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi
The Chairman of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities:
Having reviewed Law No. (1) of 1974 on the Reorganization of the Government Apparatus in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its amending laws,
And Law No. (10) of 2006 concerning the Municipality and Municipal Council of the Western Region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its amending laws,
And Law No. (10) of 2007 concerning the Municipality and Municipal Council of Abu Dhabi City in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its amending laws,
And Law No. (11) of 2007 concerning the Municipality and Municipal Council of Al Ain City in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its amending laws,
And Law No. (5) of 2018 on the Establishment of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities,
And Emiri Decree No. (13) of 2017 on the Reconstitution of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,
And the esteemed Executive Council Decision No. (32/001/6/2017) regarding the amendment to the policy of providing backfilling, leveling, and stockpiling services at the level of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport and the three municipalities, in light of the Infrastructure and Environment Committee Decision No. (38J-39/2016),
And based on what the public interest requires,
It has been decided as follows:
Article (1)
Each municipality shall undertake the following:
- Identify the quarries for loading earthen materials located within its geographical scope.
- Determine the design levels for cutting materials from the quarries in line with the Abu Dhabi Plan 2030.
- Manage the quarries for loading earthen materials located within its geographical scope, including but not limited to, monitoring contractors' compliance with the approved design levels for the quarries, regulating entry to and exit from the quarries, and continuous maintenance of the roads leading to and from the quarries.
- Issue permits for loading earthen materials from the quarries and transporting them to urban projects located within its boundaries, and follow up on contractors' compliance with the requirements of these permits.
Article (2)
This decision shall be effective from the date of its issuance and shall be circulated to all concerned authorities to act upon, each within its own jurisdiction.
